I can’t even begin to tell you the overwhelming support and love we are getting and feeling. We know everyone is so eager to help in any way, it is very much appreciated. We are so emotional it is too difficult to even communicate at this time. Please just keep praying and sending the positive vibes. We are reading all of the messages to Cody every day.
We are still in the unknown regarding Cody’s neurological status - still unconscious, still on ventilators, still on lots of drugs. They have warmed his body to normal temperature. They continue to monitor his blood pressure, modifying drugs to control pressure and seizure activity. The EEG is showing a different pattern, but not what the doctors are looking for. It is concerning, but the brain is entirely complex. It has only been 3 days, and this is not uncommon for the situation, and the doctors just don’t know. That doesn’t seem to set us at ease, as we are ready for Cody to wake up, apparently he is not ready. We assume he is resting, his body has shut down to protect himself. We hope and pray he is healing and will bring us that special smile soon. They pushed his MRI to tomorrow, wanting a bit more stability before moving him around. They are performing another type of test for the EEG this evening, I will keep you posted.
The leukemia is being treated, and as serious as it is, it is secondary to the neurological issues. We know if we can overcome anything neurological, Cody will whip the leukemia.
Steph has been spending most of her time at the hospital, sleeping bedside every night. Kelly and I have been rotating with Gram and Pop, trying to be with Cody as much as possible and trying to keep Brandon and Tanner in their normal routine. It is becoming more and more difficult for them. We are extremely proud of their strength and resilience. They keep us going.
The nurses and doctors are incredible. There are teams and teams of nurses, doctors and fellows reviewing, consulting, and perhaps most importantly - caring!
Please keep praying and sending the positive vibes.
